Food Programme and Blessing Meal Programme by Christian Action
We believe that the marginalised and socially vulnerable are capable of reaching their full potential and can contribute to society. This can be achieved if we accept each other and extend a helping hand. Since 1996, in an effort to realise this dream, we have been providing low-income families and new arrivals with various services to help them overcome barriers in their lives. Since 2016, we commenced our after-school care services to look after students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and lighten the burden on parents.
-
Provide free food assistance and reduce the daily cost of food for low-income families to meet their immediate and basic needs.
-
Introduced “Blessing Meal Programme”, held every Monday to Friday to elderly living alone, people with disabilities, single-parent and low-income families, etc., handing out around 100 free hot meals per day.
-
Run after-school childcare and interest classes to support students’ comprehensive development. The After-school Child Care Services also look after students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
-
Set up women’s mutual support groups to help women establish and expand their social network.
-
Organise induction courses and personal development programmes for immigrant students to help them as they adapt to Hong Kong and the local education system, strengthen their learning ability and expand their social networks.
-
Help new arrivals understand medical information and community resources so they can ask for assistance when necessary.
-
Organise various visits, community and volunteer activities to facilitate exchange and understanding between the new arrivals community. Meanwhile, we organise outdoor and recreational activities to help lessen their psychological and emotional stress, and allow the healthy development of mind and soul.

After-school Child Care and Interest Classes by Christian Action
Christian Action has organised a “Good Neighbourhood” Education Programme through which we hope to encourage Hong Kong students to learn more about the different disadvantaged groups among us. Some of these people are neglected and uncared for, and likely do not live far from these students, it is our hope that through this programme students will be able to pay attention to the needs around them and learn how to appropriately approach these people in need. We seek to work with schools in nurturing students to become good citizens with a caring heart and are willing to help others.

Xining Children's Rehabilitation Centre
by Christian Action
Since 2007, the Xining Children’s Rehabilitation Centre has been providing rehabilitation training and special education services to children with disabilities from the children’s home and the surrounding community.
There is a great demand in Qinghai for rehabilitative care and we provide the best possible care to those in need, including:
-
Offering various specialised equipment and facilities
-
Placing special education and rehabilitation specialists in the centre
-
Providing assistance to community parents of children with disabilities by offering childcare while they are working outside the city
-
Arranging specialists from Hong Kong and overseas to provide training to local staff

Qinghai Children's Home by Christian Action
Christian Action began its cooperation with the Qinghai Provincial Government in 1997. In May of 1998, the Xining Children’s Home opened, becoming the first children’s home to be co-managed by a charity organisation in partnership with the local government in Qinghai. In following years, additional children’s homes were established in Huangnan, Haixi, Guoluo and Hainan, providing a safe living environment for the orphaned and abandoned children in these rural areas of Qinghai.
Through the children’s homes, we provide a holistic approach to meeting the needs of each child. In addition to helping meet their most basic needs of food and shelter, Christian Action helps these children to hone their talents and skills in order to be healthy contributors to society when they grow up. We also work to strengthen their self-esteem and sense of responsibility, as well as their ability to take care of their personal needs. Some of the services utilised to accomplish these goals include home care, social work intervention, medical-services, rehabilitation training, special education, small group homes, foster care, and in some cases overseas adoption.
